I literally couldn’t believe my eyes after seeing Doug Woods’ work first-hand at the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6. Joe Kelly Jr. from The Car Room Magazine sat down with Doug at the convention to talk about his amazing one-of-a-kind creations.

Attendees of The Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6 had the opportunity to gaze upon some of the rarest Hot Wheels in the world. Sid Belzberg, the new owner of RedlinesOnline.com (soon to be ToyCarExchange.com) graciously brought a small portion of his amazing collection to be put on display. Here’s a shot of the main display case. I’m sure Redline and vintage Hot Wheels fans will recognize more than a few gems in this one!

This time around we were able to take advantage of the good internet connection and did a show from the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6! Over the course of the show I managed to persuade Jimmy “The Boxman” Chavez, collector Joe Altieri, Mike Zarnock, Bob Parker and CJ Cramer from DiecastSpace to sit down and chat about their thoughts on the Wild Weekend’s events and “come-back” as an annual die-cast event here in New England. With just under a week to go until the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6 begins, the staff has announced the availability of several incredible limited edition “Black Box” sets of convention cars. Here’s the scoop right from the Wild Weekend staff:

It has been a tradition since the first Wild Weekend event in 2000 that a very limited number of the official event cars be produced in the color black. This limited number was previously only one or two! For Wild Weekend 6, we are proud to unveil our exclusive “Black Box” Set. Each set contains (7) event cars… the Street Rodder and Bone Shaker, plus (5) other black versions of Wild Weekend 6 event cars… Can you guess which ones?

There are only 15 sets being produced, and these will be sold to the highest bidders at the Charity Auction for Autism Speaks.® This is truly a collector’s set. Each box is built to the highest standards of craftsmanship by the S.J. Pappas Company in Meriden, CT. The box is finished in high-gloss enamel, and when opened, there is an aluminum plate that is cut out to surround each car securing them in place, while offering a handy space for your favorite Wild Weekend 6 designer or Black Box car contributor to sign his name. The Black Box cover is adorned with an etched brass plate, commemorating Wild Weekend 6.

As I mentioned before, attendees of the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6 convention later this month will have the opportunity to assist in setting a Guinness Book record for the Worlds Longest Track. As an added bonus, the Wild Weekend staff has put together a special limited edition combo to commemorate this ultra-cool event.

Convention goers who purchase $100 worth of commemorative track (10ft) will receive this fantastic custom red and white ’58 Corvette. Even better, all the money raised by the sales of the Vette will go to Autism Speaks! There will only be 150 cars in the run, and each one will be sealed in a custom blister right on-site by Jimmy “The Boxman” Chavez.

With just a few weeks to go, the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6 convention car line-up continues to grow! The staff has recently secured a limited run of 750 Custom Convoys from the Hot Wheels Classics line.

The name “Custom Convoy” might not ring a bell because its a brand new casting in the 2009 Classics line-up. This version appearing at the Wild Weekend will be painted in Spectraflane pink – a color that is exclusive to the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6!

This premium car will be given to the first 100 ticket purchasers and first 100 H.O.T Package purchasers as part of their ticket purchase. The remainder will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.

The Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels staff has confirmed that Chris Parker from Mattel will be coming to the convention with the vending machine in tow! Those who have purchased vending machine pulls before know that its always fun and exciting to see what drops from behind the frosted glass. Equally as fun are the antics and commentary added to the event by Chris as each piece falls! Rodger Dodger!!!

Up until now, we’ve only been able to see the e-sheet for the limited edition Pope Designs Camaro that will be part of the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels Ladies Lunch honoring Shirley Wood. The run is now complete, and I’ve just received these shots of the final piece. All I can say is WOW!

Now all I have to do is convince my wife to attend!

This past weekend the two main Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6 convention cars were finally paired up when this incredibly good looking Bone Shaker arrived in Connecticut. With only 2000 being made, this piece is surely going to be sought after by collectors far and wide.

Tired of seeing e-sheets yet..? Thats what I though…me neither!! So here’s another to feast your eyes on. You would think that a casting like the Bone Shaker would look a bit odd in a color like pink, but I think it suits it just fine. Seeing both the pink color and the skull on the front view almost gives it that “naughty or nice” kind of vibe.

Bryan Pope of Pope Designs continues to knock’em out of the park with this new bus design that will come to life as the “Paradise Road” event car at the Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6. Each convention attendee who submits a VW Drag Bus or Beach Bomb into the Paradise Road display will receive this Pope Designs creation. Each piece submitted can be loose or carded. A short while ago I posted the e-sheet of the upcoming Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6 Street Rodder convention car. Just this past week these photos popped up on the official WWHW6 site and truly prove that is piece is just as awesome looking as the e-sheet hinted!

This this Larry Wood designed “new-for-2009″ casting will be available for the first time as a premium vehicle at the Wild Weekend. The more I look at these pictures, the hungrier I get. Maybe that has something to do with the license plate its sporting!

The e-sheet for the upcoming Wild Weekend Street Rodder has just been released, and its certainly looking hot! The car is done up in Spectraflame light green with traditional flame tampos on both sides. It also features deep-dish chrome wheels and Redline Real Rider tires. There are only 2000 of these cars available, and it comes with your Wild Weekend of Hot Wheels 6 ticket purchase.

Speaking of tickets, I’ve been told that ticket packages are selling fast. As of the date of this post there are less than 25 H.O.T. Packages left! Purchasing the H.O.T. Package will guarantee you get a special Code 3 car designed by Chris “Nightstalker” Walker. Also don’t forget that you must book your hotel room by May 15th to lock in your discounted room rate of only $95 per night.
