2009 Treasure Hunt card design changes

Collectors on various diecast boards have started posting pictures of the first 2009 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt to begin appearing in stores. The first casting is the “Bad Bagger” motorcycle. Not only do the pictures give us a close look at a pretty cool casting, but they also revealing the new packaging differences between the “Regular” and “Super” Treasure Hunts.

Super Treasure Hunts now have more subtle dollar signs at the bottom of the card. In addition, a new “TH” logo has been added to the top and a small triangle of green has been added to the corner on the opposite side of the card. Collector KinkyRasta provided these pictures in a thread over on HotWheelsCollectors.com.

  1. Jeff,

Just for FYI the Bad Bagger treasure hunt is a a “BigLou” design.

    enjoy

  2. Very nice work Luis! Although, I can only enjoy it through pictures until I actually find one – HA!

  3. Im new in colloecting Hot Wheels and I enjoy doing it, so far I only have one TH and the mystery cars I love, for some reason I get all surpirse when I open them and I fill like a little girl when she opens her x-mas gift and gets something cool and beutiful, Oh and just wondering when is the next kmart hot wheel even, no one seems to know and I would really like to go on one for the first time, the first th I got was by luck they had them on display.

  4. I have found a few of the TH’s for this year but i wanted to say i like the new card design… i just cant seem to find out how many they are making of the reg. and the super TH

  5. i just came from a grocery outlet and when i was there I was very lucky to come across 2 bad bagger Treasure Hunts. i was so excited. i have never found a treasure hunt in a store before. The other ones i have i bought at shows. Anyway, is there anyway of nowing how much these are worth right now?

  6. Hey Dave – Thanks for commenting! – eBay is usually the best gauge for what Treasure Hunts are going for. I seen normal Treasure Hunts for the current year going for $5-10 and Super TH’s going for $10-20 (usually $20). The price fluctuates depending on the casting as well. In the end, they are only worth what an interested buyer is willing to pay for them. :)

    Best, Jeff

  7. I have been collecting them in Australia for a couple of years now. BUT I find these cars are snapped up by shop staff out of the boxes before they are placed on pegs for public sale. Then these cars are placed on eBay for $$$$. Its not fair on the collectors.

  8. OZ- The same thing happens quite a bit here in the states too. Many collectors have stopped going to the stores and have started buying cases of cars online from reputable vendors to avoid spending so much money on gas driving around from store to store. That way you have a a chance of getting a Treasure Hunt every now and then. All the duplicate cars make nice stocking stuffers and donations to kids during the holidays too. -Jeff

  9. Hey, i recently walked into a toys R us while they were restocking and i remembered a friend mentioning hot wheels with the greens sides. So i actually found four of the same car but one is a bit different they are all fire-eaters, but one has red lined wheels and is darker and has a line on top and on the bottom of the S’s i was wondering if that was worth anything?

  10. yeah its a super hunt dont give them to your buddy because it is worth much more maybe you should start collecting for yourself its very fun lol

  11. I have several of the Treasure Hunt series in stock at my gift shop. If anyone is looking for any specific ones I would happy to let you know if I have it.
