A few weeks ago we mentioned how Jada’s 1/32 scale diecast models were beginning to pop up in your favorite break and mortar retailer. The first rounds that appeared included cars from the Bigtime Muscle and Dub City lines. Now the VW fans will get their fill as collector BBIG MIKE shares this picture of some bugs and buses he recently picked up.

Mike also mentioned that each bug and bus will be available in 6 different colors! With a retail price of about $5 each I can see a lot of spending in many Jada fans futures!

After a short absense during the middle of 2007, the Hot Wheels K-Mart Collectors Day event returns to your local brick and mortar on Saturday, September 22nd! This is always a great event for those who don’t get out to hunt for cars as much as they’d like to, and as usual, there will be a few special event cars to be found as well. This time around you’ll find three 2007 basic vehicles featuring all-new Kmart exclusive colors/deco:

• - Chevy Camaro Concept in hi-lite gold afflair
• - 1964 Ford Galaxie in pearlescent white
• - Buick Grand National in blue

This event should be happening in all continental US Kmart, Big Kmart and Super Kmart locations. Be sure to check with your local store to confirm that event is happening near you. September 22nd also marks the start of a special Hot Wheels/Kmart promotion. A few new ‘57 Chevys have popped up on the Jada Toys site and are definitely worth checking out! The first is a 1/24th scale blown version from the Bigtime Muscle line and will be available in blue, red, black and yellow.

The other is a fantastic 1/24th scal ‘57 from the “For Sale” line which is sure to find a home in quite a few dioramas and displays across the globe!

Keep your eye out for these at your favorite retailer later this year!

Diane Strauss and the Hot Wheels Newsletter revealed more information on the cars that will be available at next month’s convention in California. This time the news comes in the form of the ‘67 Pontiac GTO! The GTO will be this year’s Button Bingo car with red, white and blue versions for the players, an orange version for the Poker tournament players and gold versions for all the winners. In addition, there will be an alternate color ‘67 GTO version given out to winners of randomly selected games along with bonus VW Bugs from the last Nationals charity event.

Convention attendees who register for Button Bingo by September 15th will also receive a custom, pink VW Bus made specifically for the event. All cars mentioned are customs (code 3), produced by the Hot Wheels Newsletter. All money raised via the bingo event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles.

Collectors who frequent THETOYPEDDLER.COM might have received a recent newsletter announcing the start of a new section on the site called “The Vault.” This new section became available to registered TTP members at the beginning or August and features listings of high-end collectibles selling for $1000 and higher. After first reading the announcement it was difficult to believe that there would be many items available for purchase since the number of collectors that can deal at that level is fairly small. Low and behold, there is some serious action happening there!

Posted items are ranging from gems like minty red lines for $1000 to $2000 each all the way up to a sealed case of 96 blister-packed red lines for $27000! While prices like these are virtually unobtainable for most, there are definitely items moving at these prices. At the time of this post, the most recent piece sold was a rose colored hybrid custom Baracuda red line for $1250! Many of the rare cars listed are owned by well known collector Bruce Pascal. diecastAUDIO sat down for an interview with Bruce during the 2006 Rhode Island Diecast Expo which is definitely an episode to not be missed!
