This week’s JLFT blog post looks back at what went into getting the team’s rendition of the cars from the film “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” to market. Fans of the movie franchise will remember that the diecast creations from the first two films where done by Racing Champions. For last year’s third film, RC2 held the contract and they certainly raised the bar by producing cars that where a bit larger and had better detailing than RC’s previous attempts.

After a few rounds of smoothing out the design bumps in the later half of 2005, everything started to click between the California design team and RC2 China. The end result was a graphically amazing, highly detailed line that new shipped to retail on time and sold well while the movie was in theaters.
