Frankly if it doesnt have a shaker scoop it is not a Trans Am. If you are going to waste the time and money to bring back a classic, make it a classic comeback!! Nothing in the photo makes it a Trans Am, I mean nothing! Decals dont count. Also this photo is a disgrace to the actual SE Trans Am. Come on GM bring on the classic look of the real deal. To much rice burner look to this promo, and very disappointing. Look what Ford did to the Mustang at least they tried to recreate a great American Classic. I say I wont buy one.
Ok, like the car. Not too bad. Definately not ugly! Nose is a little long and definately needs a T-top. 2009 trans-am concept looks way better and closer to the original for a Bandit edition. But still, why bring back a classic from a movie and use it in a totally different show. Why not bring back a great movie with a great car? I personally would love to see the Bandit ride again. Come on Hollywood kick it in the ass!
GM said they didn’t want to build a camaro clone, so instead we get what looks like an import? I’m very sad. After seeing Kevin Morgan’s concept, this is more than a dissapointment–it’s an abortion.
I think the car looks great! Awesome actually! The nose of the car is a little to long it could use a few touch ups. I love Trans Ams I own one myself. And I am on the waiting list for the 2009 Camaro. Keep on bringing the good ideas GM.
Back when I was a kid in the 70ies,there were 2 cars that were too cool.The Corvette and the Trans am(black and gold of course)Living in Denmark(Europe)you were more than lucky if you ever saw one of those cars for real.Only in film could you enjoy those beauties.Nowadays it is sooo different.
If you absolutely must create a retro car as the new Trans am,then at least make it look like a Trans am.This car is simply average!!!

There was no rumor not even for the film version of Knight Rider that’s being worked on and this car isn’t going to be built. It might have been in the planning stages but the project was canceled due in part to the new mileage standards.
A noble idea, but- where are my t-tops? my fender air extractors? my honeycombs? my rear spoiler? why do the door and fender lines look like a chrysler crossfire? I own both the 77 and 80 SE “bandit” cars, and frankly, im not impressed. the bird works, but its attached to a car that is not worthy. Also-who gives a turkey about knight rider? they killed that dead, just like the dukes of hazzard with that waste of film about jessica showing herself off and knoxvilles idiocy. bring back Bandit. On second thought, leave it alone. Legends never die.
I can see where they were going with the hood. i have a 2000 trans am and the scoops are similar but nowhere near as sexy and dont flow well with the body lines. it looks like they shortened them just so they could fit the screaming chicken on the front so it was identifiable as a trans am in the first place. Speaking of body lines, chances are good they wont be able to come close to the beautiful design of the old school trans ams anyway. The front end isnt nearly as intimidating as it used to be which was a defining factor in how BA the birds really were. Ill stick with my ’00
I’m not too impressed of this car. Kevin Morgan’s version is far better. I don’t care if it’s a Camaro Clone – if they build his version, I’ll promise take a loan and order one, right away!
Awesome car put a shaker instead of the scoops add T-tops and tweak the nose a bit so it does not look like a Sunfire and this Trans am will be a hit! Bring back the Bandit and Knight Rider!
This car is okay. BUT it doesnt look like a trans am if it weren’t for the decal on the hood. I think they should have stayed exactly with the Kevin Morgan rendition. I thought his body style was better…however, having been an owner of a 1977 6.6liter black & gold hard top, it is nice to see this muscle car still in existance.

This is not a true TRANS AM… Nothing like it. You really need to fire the guys who came out with the body styling. Need to go back to the shaker hoods or even the Ram Air. But get rid of the nose. Looks like an old witch nose.
This is one hot car, and I am a Mustang guy! The lines are better than the Camaro by far. Love the extended nosepiece like Birds of days gone by. Now if you can get it for less than $30K. you might have something!
I agree the nose is a little long and definately needs T-tops. A rear spoiler would look great on this car. Can’t wait to see if they really do bring this car out.

I agree with all of the opinions about this not looking like a trans-am, retro anyway.Give me the late 60s-early 70s look all the way. Not straight boxy lines, but curves. GM got the top 1/2 the Camaro right. Why not finish what they started with the T/A? Unless they change the Camaro the 2nd or 3rd year out. Given the economy will we see anything the next couple of years, or will new designs get benched?
As far as the tuner comments go, right on. The U.S.A. needs to be the design leader if they’re gonna do muscle cars, not a tuner follower. I’m a GM guy at heart, but the Challenger and Mustang designs are great. There’s always dreamin’.
This car would be great, but i have heard that it is impossible to create because GM is closing doors on Pontiac, so i would not get to excited until it really happens, but i think it is a really nice car. I think even Burt Reynolds would be pleased. This car should be made in memory of Jerry Reed, or “Snowman” as some refer to him as.
I have looked over some more of these other comments and i think they are so wierd. whoever thinks the 1977 should come back is so early 70′s. This is 2009. Not 1977, so you can expect a few changes. So what if the t-tops are gone. They were an old tool that pontiac used years ago. They need to break through with this new car. This car is the coolest car i have ever seen, so i want one when i am older, and that is a fact. One way or another i am going to get it. Legally of course. The bandit would want it that way right?
It looks like a Nissan 300 with a lone nose, this is not a Trans Am. They need to go back to the drawing board and let someone design it who has T/A in his blood do it. The ’77 T/A had character. This car would not stand out in the crowd, you would actually have to read the name on the car to tell what it is. Do it right or don’t do it.

i’ve just seen kevin morgans pic of the trans am and i like it better then the 2011 model pic but where are the t-tops, are there going to be two models a t-top and hard top that would be great let the t-top model have the v-8 and the hard top have the v-6 and some of you guys can’t say any thing good or bad about a car or truck with out using 4 letter words if you can’t say any thing with out cursing SHUT UP.

i am a long time fan of the t/a since i was 10-11 yrs old vettes camaros and t/a’s are all in a class by themselves as americas street muscle.you can have all funny sounding imports with big mufflers. i hope to seee this car i’ve owned a few but only one with a v8 a 93 lt1 blk on blk t top.very fun very cool very fast.i am 39 now and patiently waiting for my mid life crisis to kick in i think the new t/a will take care of it. but lets keep it affordable as the othe rwriter said around 35 k is plenty for todays economy the challenger seems to be selling well at this price.

This isnt a Trans Am, I owned a few in my time and the 2011 Trans AM. Looks like the just picked what they they like from other cars and threw it together and decided to call it a Trans Am. Just because you throw a bird on it dosnt make it a trans am.
You have got to bring back this legend. Ford went retro, the Camaro is back, so all that is left is for the Firebird/Trans-Am to come back. One question, since Pontiac is on the “chopping block,” what will be the name of the Car? Whatever the case, I look forwaard to seeing this legend tearing up the roads once more. As for the possible Knight Rider movie, this will be interesting. I’m a Knight Rider fan, and I’m a Ford fan, and I just love the new KITT, Mustang GT500 KR.
I own a 1980 pontiac trans am and it’s in great condition. The car world has already recreated the charger, challenger, and camaro. Keep the trans am a classic. my trans am looks identical to this 2011. i think the 2011 looks too similar to the camaro and challenger.

WOW nice trans am .i had 3trans am in my life a 1970/1975/ 1979limited edtion-trans am it was red goldbridflame costum t-tops 4speed 454-hurst shifter 325horses it was bad two the bone i sold the car in 1984 to aj flote grandson for $8,850 it had 35,000 miles on it.but this trans am 2011 hope it omes in red becuse i will buy 1.. i cant wait two see 1 up close congrat;s on the car….

I agree this car is far from trans am looks. I own a 1999 ram air trans am with t-tops, spoiler and honey comb. I was very interested when I found out they were coming out with a new one but when I seen it I was very disappointed. I will gladly stick with my 99. The car its self is a nice looking car but not for the trans am name.

the March issue of Hot Rod has that Camaro but with a shacker hood on it. It has an LS3 Motor, But i think the LTA looks alot better its based on the 71 model. Well if you want a real trans am have to get a 69 trans am
The 2011 Trans Am is small but it looks good otherwise.
i read an article that the new trans am will only be available to people who purchase the new camero SS at full price and with an extra 20K. also the new firebird does have the shaker hood and a blower and has over 500 hp from an LS3 motor. it’s a special limited edition that GM is making….i don’t know whether they will ever make it available to the mass public….

This car is sweet but I have seen other renditions that are far better, the shaker hood would be a great option for GM to milk a few more dollors out of, same for the snowflake wheels, but I think those side fender scoops would really set it off nice these two are great especially the gold one!!!

I completely agree with the thought of it resembling a Sunfire. They need to put round headlights on it. That was exactly when the Firebird started slide in the 70′s too, when they put those stupid pointy, rectangular headlights in them. Round headlights, hood shaker, and honey-comb wheels and a must. The Pontiac Trans Am is the sexiest car ever made, and if they’re gonna make it again, they need to do it right.

This won’t be built. The only Trans Am’s being put together today are the Camaro’s with Trans Am kits being put on them. They’re produced by Trans Am Depot, and based off of the Kevin Morgan designs. Google it.

The new TA really sucks in design and looks like all of the new pontiacs latley. This isnt much of a stretch from the new Goat, and its lame too!! Even if its packin big HP, the design is not retro enough. This is a great time we are livin in where they are building old muscle cars with modern tech moves!!!!! I have been a trans am lover since high school and to be sincere this new trans am sucks in design. If they actually build this they will go bankrupt again. They need to improve the design because this look seems like a mix of a gto or grand am looks shitty. The 4th gen TA looks better than this.

Nice car, Everyone knows that’s a prototype so Why dawg it, Also if you look back at the Transams of the past they do have a longer nose than a Camaro, and it’s comes to a point. It has the hood scoop. It may not be the 1970′s muscle look that everyone goes gaga over but It’s the 2011 look that we have all been waiting for. I would Buy this car, i actually like the White with a Blue & black bird on the hood. Or maybe an Orange with a red & gold bird. But either way, if this car comes out it will be a heart stopper for me!
I saw the 2010 and 2011 concepts of the Trans Am, i compared the 2 concepts and about 2011 TA concept, it look like corvette, the front end don’t fit with the design. I prefer the 2010 Kevin Morgan’s Concept, but it is a clone of the Camaro. In mind, if we take the same design from 2010 TA Concept but with a older generation TA frontend design, we have probably put TA history in that way. I think that the frontend design may be from a 70s or 80s Trans Am, fitted on the Kevin Morgan’s concept.Keep the shaker and spoiler suggested from 2010 concept…

Hi people I just wanted to say that I have seen this car on the road the real one. Its located in michigan just north of detroit. There was two of them in the parkinglot. It looked sick in person. It resembles this photo a little but the nose looks a lot better especially with the bird on the hood it looked crazy. I took some photos of it cuz people dint believe me . Badd ass ride.

Admittedly, it’s a great design. The only thing is,I’m not sure if I like it as a “new” Transam. For some reason I can’t still fathom, it doesn’t seem to capture the “old styling cues” in same way as Cevrolet did with the Camaro and Ford did with the Mustang. But then,that’s my humble opinion.

I totally like the sunfire nose. It makes it looks less like a camero. I’m with you guys on the T-Tops thing. this car would look even more legit. The sunfire nose would make this car stand out more. I can’t think of a car today that has that style of front end; not off the top of my head anyways;)

This is horrible…looks like crap, just like all the other Jellybeans they’re making now. They should stick to the original 1982 TransAm with the custom nose and scanner.

It doesnt have any of the strong points of a trans am . maybe the hood bird. but u could slap that on anything .If peolpe really want a new firebird/trans am they should demand it and buy it .stop bitching and do something about it besides posting camaro moddifications on line and calling it a firbird. sure they look great but its still a camaro.And this is a sunfire . The new Trans Am is supposed to be based on the camaro but better, same as always. This sunfire is an insult to the firebird line. The new one needs to be a 6.6L and be better than the camaro same as always.

I have been following pontiac trans ams for a while now. They are still a classy looking automobile with a lot of oomph. Today I found the picture of the trans am — 2011 Pontiac Trans Am Revealed. It looks great but adding a T-Roof would add to it. The 1989 (as an example) was great looking as well. I wish General Motors would rethink its decision. There are a lot of TA enthusiasts out there including myself.
This new trans am dont look nothing like one should i do agree with these last 4 post they took a new camero and slaped a sunfire frontend on it they new to make it look more slender sleek looking. This car reminds me of Burt reynolds in the bandit 2 where Jerry reed made him lose weight its a fat car it to big , needs to shorten up needs to b narrowed its one of the poorest remakes of a car ive ever seen. If they came out with a better version of a trans am and half way made it look like the true bandit i would jump all over one, but this car , negative i wouldnt give a dollar for all of them . “pontiac ” Ive got a car drawn of what a 77 and a 2012 trans am should look like its took the old and the new would make Burt Reynolds and all the other bandit fans proud of it.
I actually just saw one n the streets and it blew me away !!! i was comletrly ubaware of the come back . It was red thought it was a camaro with a wierd grill from afar,but once it got closer and I saw the big bird on top i knew what it was. Smooth car !
This car is awsome and the best of all and ofcourse its nose is long it has too just like all the years sinse firebird transams was first made!

Since this was posted in 2007, there is some updating to tell y’all about this new trans am. First it’s not actually called a trans am, it’s called the firebreather. And it’s not for a new knight rider movie, it’s for a new 2011 movie called Jinn. Look all my info up, I’m right.

I still own my first car which happens to be a 1977 Trans-Am..love her!! Without the cocky muscle car looks,shaker hood,scoop… forget about it. T-tops are an added bonus. Do Bandit proud and you will have a seller!

Needs more muscle! Looks like a tame, sophisticated housewife. Back in the 70′s the engines were loud, all american, and looked sexy as hell. Put some muscle and some hard lines back in there an maybe i’d consider drivin’ it. For now it looks like a rich 17 year old’s baby maker.

These two cars have ALWAYS had the same body type! & for all those air-heads out there, yes, Pontiac is gone so the only way your going to have this Trans AM is to buy the conversion body kit for the Camaro! IT’S NOT A MODEL!!! IT’S A BODY KIT!!!! Where the hell do people come up with this stuff??? I love it how people eat up all the BS they see on the internet!Oh yeah, they’re bringing back The Judge too! Haaaa ha ha ha!!
So can I or cant I buy a new Trans AM. I used to have a 1998 one and loved it. Is there a website where I cna buy a newer one, even if it is not a real one that is in production, but a concept car?
