Did JL copy GreenLight’s packaging design?
Came across this interesting blog post from Ian Smith, a freelance web designer who also happens to be the creative mind behind Greenlight’s Muscle Car Garage packaging. His post goes into detail about the strange similarities between his design for Greenlight and Johnny Lightning’s most recent packaging change.

While its definitely an interesting read, some of the design techniques being stated as something JL has copied (like pop-up logo treatment, trading card positioning and treatment, as well as clamshell packaging) are things that Jada Toys has been doing since 2001 – several years before the Muscle Car Garage line came to be. diecastAUDIO thinks Johnny Lightning has done no wrong.

Hey thanks for the link. I’ve unwittingly sparked a interesting conversation… I must say that the collector community seems to be a great bunch of people.
…and very passionate about the hobby as well..!
Imitation is the best form of flatery. Similarities are afact of life. With the lenght of time we’ve been around now all we know is how to imitate. There is nothing truely new and unique anymore.
