Introducing the Toyota FT-HS - a hybrid sports car concept revealed at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. To summarize what this cool concept aims to be you’ll have to imagine having a car that is much faster than a Porsche, Mercedes AMG and any M series car from BMW all while costing just 1/4 the price! This sleak 4-seater sports a retractable roof similar to a targa top, but will essentially reduce to a 2-seater when the top is rolled back.

Toyota hasn’t had a real sports car since 1997’s Supra so this will certainly put them back in the game rather quickly if it ever comes to production. diecastAUDIO is thinking that this will probably make it as a Hot Wheels casting first! More pictures after the jump!

Fans of anything and everything done by Chip Foose will recall seeing his incredible automotive work of art known as “Impression” on TLC’s Rides TV show a season or two ago. If you’re hankering for even more information about this beauty and what it took to bring it from concept to completion and then to diecast, jump over to the JLFT Team’s blog on MySpace for a great read.

The diecast version of Impression (designed by Eric Tscherne) is available now and can always be purchased at the store over at CHIPFOOSE.COM in both small and large sizes. The orange version shown in the pictures above was actually the color that Chip originally intended the car to be at one point. The JLFT team will be bringing this version to collectors in small scale as part of the Artists Series!

Don’t forget that up until February 22nd you have to opportunity to rank the selected Top 40 castings over at HOTWHEELSCOLLECTORS.COM as part of the upcoming “Since ‘68″ line which is aimed at commemorating 40 years of “the coolest metal cars in the world.” A wide range of castings have been selected for this series and not only cover current tools and retooled favorites, but brand new tools as well. Now that the castings have been selected, its up to us to rank them from 1 to 40. After the polls are closed on the 22nd, the results will kept a secret only to be revealed at the time this segment comes to retail.

Hot Wheels collectors should definitely be excited as this ranking is just for the first of four segments of the Since ‘68 line - which means Mattel certainly has a lot more in store for us not only for 2007, but into next year as well! In case you missed them, forum poster Reekman over on JOESDIECASTSHACK.COM has posted a great set of pictures to show off the new 1/24th scale Econoline Window Van from Jada.

As part of the Dubcity Old Skool line, the windowed 1/24th scale version of the van will come in four different two-tone color options: black/red, white/blue, white/gold, and white/purple as shown in Reekman’s photos. Similar to Jada’s VW Bus the Econoline will also come in non-windowed panel and pickup versions. Get your wallet ready - these are available now.

Slated to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, DaimlerChrysler has just started releasing information and photos of the new Dodge Demon Concept. One exciting aspect of the Demon is that it was designed and built from the ground up and does not borrow from any of the existing DCX platforms. Although, it does share the existing 2.4L four-cylinder World Engine that sends 172 horsepower and 165 ft-lbs. of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. From the looks alone you can tell that it will be targeted at the Mazda MX5 (Miata) or the Solstice/Sky roadsters. As of this week you’ll notice a new “1:1 Scale” category over on the sidebar menu. This weekend I suddenly became inspired to start adding some 1:1 scale content on the site and I think that most of you will agree that information on real world cars and customs correlates pretty well to the diecast world. We see this quite frequently with concept vehicles from major manufacturers where the diecast version comes out at retail before its 1:1 scale counterpart is available at the dealership. Prominent examples include the new Chevy Camaro and the new Dodge Challenger.

With that being said, from this point forward you can expect to see an occasional post about concept cars or custom hot rods in hopes of sharing a little bit of what sometimes ends up becoming the toys we love to collect!
